As a playwright and lyricist, I love writing about ideas that keep me up at night. Much of my work examines the intersection of science, society, and spirituality, with the occasional singing deer thrown in for good measure. 13-year-old Lily is a proud Gatewatcher defending the city of Nestuk. When captured by a group of rebels from the surrounding Woods, Lily learns a dark secret about her city and what they’ve been fighting to keep away—a secret that will lead her to magic beasts, cryptic riddles, and unlikely allies. In this historical comedy, astronomers Johannes Kepler and Tycho Brahe enter a dysfunctional partnership and demonstrate how privilege impacts who controls the scientific historical narrative. Full-length.
